You likely have seen her (or her infamous octopus tattoo) but most of you might not know her name from Tumblr or memes. I do think that hers is a name that you should know though, and I hold her high esteem. Her name is Daizha Morgann, and she is a major lady crush of mine. While I won’t lie – it was the octopus tattoo that first caught my eye, it was the joie de vivre of her photos, videos and Instagram that made me lose my heart to her. The more I checked out her resume – anal ringtoss innovator, clips, and of course this artwork, the bigger my lady crush grew. This is a woman who’s enema videos makes it look like her octopus tattoo is cheerfully shooting ink, which while I’m sure some people are recoiling in horror, her gaiety in this made think she’s the next Bettie Page. I’m hooked.
Women who take their sexuality and find playfulness in it – whether it be cute cheesecake pin ups in granny panties or anal ring toss – tend to get the hairy eyeball from a lot of folks. Never mind that the most judging of folks are usually the ones with the most eyebrow raising history in their web browsers. If we rewind back to the days of aforementioned Bettie Page, Tempest Storm, and Sally Rand, consider what they did during that period. We now hold it close to our hearts now with nostalgia but back then those women were lusted after and yet they were considered immoral, as if by enjoying their bodies and and being proud of that self control they were somehow responsible for moral decay. I’d say the moral decay came from having unsustainable social standards, but I digress. The point is, what was shocking back in the day is on lunch boxes and stickers now. So let that sink in for a second…
Before anyone tells me she’s being objectified, let me drop you some Truth: You do NOT sit through/pay for a tattoo that takes that long, of that quality, if you don’t want that. Ms. Morgann knows what she’s doing and doesn’t need the pearl clutchers to tell her otherwise, thank you. Her photos and videos give zero fucks about conventionality and just fucks about fun/joy/sexiness. Despite my initial interest in the tattoo on it’s own, you must consider that someone who goes that route has no interest in pleasing a mass market, though ultimately I feel that she will because everyone is attracted to an anarchistic icon. Yes, I dropped the i-word. This is definitely someone who is worth paying attention to.
I’ll admit, I don’t know much of the inside of the porn world, though it’s always been of great interest to me. But Ms. Morgann seems to have found her path and not only carved a unique niche for herself, but macheted a giant wound open with her signature style. For this, I salute her. Daizha Morgann, may your ink flow ever true, and may you never lose that awesomeness.
