It’s the most wonderful time of the year! When we get really excited for the Women In Horror Blood Drive. Every year, The Soska sisters have been spearheading a campaign to get fresh blood out of veins and into hospitals for Blood Services. In the past few years they have been reaching out to other female filmmakers as February is Women In Horror month, to both celebrate our unique voice in film as well as bring attention to the dire and constant need for blood donations.
This year I made the foray into helping by contributing not just my blood (which I try to do as regularly as possible) but also a small segment in their compilation of filmmakers which this year has grown to include some of the boys who are also feminists (because we aren’t exclusionary – if you’re for equal rights, it means all the allies we can get) in the mix.
The countdown is on to when 2016′s PSA drops, but I want to take you back to 2012, when we had just wrapped American Mary and they invited me along for the occasion. And because I am some sort of closet splosher when it comes to be coated in blood like a demented candy apple.
