According to the Chinese Zodiac, 2012 is the Year Of The Dragon. Forecasts call for notation that Dragon is a legendary animal and it is symbol of emperor in China. Since the Dragon is coated with mysterious color, Chinese consider that the dragon is unpredictable, untouchable and people cannot see its head and tail at the same time. Therefore, we can might see something unexpected happening in 2012. Also a person with too many dragons in the Chinese astrology birth chart will become smarter, sly and unpredictable in the coming year. It’s also year of the Water Dragon, hence the double header.
However, whenever I call to mind, I think of Puff the Magic Dragon, who lived in Honah Lee. Being a West Coast girl, and a sci fi/fantasy nerd, I have my own take on this. Back in the winter (which is a good time to spend extended periods naked) Jen Little of Glitter Machine and I got together for a body painting session to turn me into Puff. Being an avid dragon lover, I was stoked to become one of my favourite animals under the skilled spray of her airbrush. She had innocently asked me before we started if there were time constraints and I said, there wasn’t. I hadn’t planned for anything that day other than letting Jen paint me, and Lee photograph the results. I should know better by now that if you give a body painter six hours to paint you, they WILL use all time allotted. Jen laughed at me while I fanned myself with her hair drier to keep warm while she and Lee painted me back and forth.
The result being these amazing photos that Jen recently released as part of the Sin City Fetish Art show at the Fall Gallery.
While I had been inspired originally by our giant pink bong from Dollhouse, Pricilla, for this shoot with the idea to be a ‘puffing dragon’ I am pleased with the direction this took. I celebrated our shoot with walking through Whole Foods pretending to shop for groceries, acting totally casually and then to my favourite neighbourhood pub for a bite. However since they are somewhat used to me, they didn’t flinch, and only asked if I wanted fries or salad with my princess. Sigh.
In any case, given my love of all things fantastic, I’m pleased to post these. And for the rest of the year you’ll see me blowing smoke rings, and roaring.
Hugs and hisses,
Little Miss Risk
